CFESA Spring Conference Highlights

CFESA 2007 Spring Conference Highlights

The CFESA 2007 Spring Conference was held May 17-19, 2007 at the InterContinental Hotel in Chicago. The conference was a huge success with over 195 attendees, 19 of them being first time attendees. The conference kicked off at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday with the customary board meeting followed by the first timers luncheon. After lunch the CFESA Committee Meetings were held and all committees had good attendance. The last event of the day was the Opening Event and Dinner, which was a casino night.

Day two started with breakfast followed by the CFESA membership meeting and feedback session. During this meeting the board of directors elections were held. Gary Schermann and John Schwindt were re-elected and Wayne Stoutner was elected as a new board member. Immediately following the meeting guest speaker Tom Lynch gave his presentation regarding workers compensation.  During lunch the outgoing directors were recognized as well as the companies that have achieved CFESA Company Recertification status. The outgoing directors were Gary Schermann, John Schwindt, and Tom Walter. The companies that were recognized for recertification status are: Authorized Appliance Servicenter of Vermont, Inc., Bromley Parts & Service, Commercial Parts and Service, Inc., EMR, Eichenauer Services, Nass Parts & Service, Pierce Parts & Service and Service Solutions Group. After lunch Deborah Barrash presented the NAFEM Size and Shape of the Industry along with Jean Choquette and Todd Maxwell. The final day of the conference began with breakfast and then a series of rotating workshops led by Compusource, Davis Business Solutions and Service Management Group. During the lunch break, the CFESA Trainers were recognized with appreciation plaques. The Master Trainers were: Mike Cadieux, Bill Findlay, Frank Gorman, Dave Neidlinger, Dan Reese and John Schwindt. The Installation Trainers were: Wayne Stoutner and Paul Toukatly. Electrical Trainer: Michael Reed. Gas Trainer: Gerald Ames, Michael Reed and Paul Toukatly.  Refrigeration Trainers: Scott Hester and John Orr. Customer Service Trainer: Steve Craig. After lunch the workshops resumed and then a follow-up question and answer session took place. The final event of the conference was the president's reception. A special congratulations to former CFESA Board Member John Sappo for receiving the 2007 FE&S Top Achiever Service Agent Award and CFESA Board Member, John Schwindt for receiving the 2007 Foodservice Equipment Reports Industry Service Award.
